EU Consent Lecture

How to Engage with Political Islam: Lessons from Europe

An EU Consent Lecture delivered by Dr Natalie Tocci (IAI)

University of Edinburgh, 30th January 2009

The University of Edinburgh's Politics and International Relations subject area welcomed Dr Natalie Tocci to deliver a European Perspective on Political islam.  The lecture formed part of Politics/IR's popular Transatlantic Seminar Series and was funded by the EU Consent Network which helped to ensure a lively and well-attended session.

Drawing on European examples of external engagement with domestic opposition in authoritarian contexts, Dr Tocci argued that there are lessons here for the West's engagement with Political Islam.

The organisers extend their thanks to all who took part, and if you would like to learn more then a podcast of the lecture is avilable here.
