Edinburgh Politics and International Relations has one of the most active programmes of events and seminars in the UK. We organise a range of seminar series, one-off lectures, national and international conferences, briefings and workshops connecting politics research and policy practice, and social events that bring together students and staff.
We hosted the annual conferences of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies in 2008 and the Political Studies Association Annual Conference in 2010. We also regularly present speeches by major political figures (recently including European Commissioner Danuta Hübner, former UK Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind, Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, UK Minister for Africa, Asia and The United Nations Lord Malloch Brown and General Sir Michael Jackson) and world leading academics (recently including Francis Fukuyama, RW Connell, Louise Richardson, Claudio Radaelli and Amitai Etzioni).
