It's the start of a new year at Leviathan and we're looking for a few good writers, editors, and production members to join the team. This year, we're testing out a new application system, and we'd be thrilled if those of you receiving this email would be the first to apply or register your interest as a writer using the new process. Positions descriptions, and a link to the application can be found at the end of this email. Writers are not required to apply' however, they should register their interest using the application form linked below.

Freshers: We're particularly excited to welcome a host of new students to the Leviathan community. Fresher submissions are the lifeblood on which the journal subsists. Whether you're an experienced writer, or someone looking to get published for the first time, we welcome submissions from you, and our Editorial Team will assist you every step of the way. Register as a writer, and we'll keep you appraised of events, submission guidelines, and how to maximise the effectiveness of your submissions.

Pre-Honours and Honours Students: For those of you with a more advanced understanding of your subject, Leviathan serves as a platform for your ideas, a place where you can meet with Editors and Subject Experts at the University to pursue interests that haven't been covered in the classroom. Leviathan is also a good place to get experience working with other students to help them develop ideas of their own. Because of this, we're particularly interested in hiring Editors who are in their second, third, or fourth year of study.

Postgraduates: Leviathan is intended to be a space where young writers can be published for the first time, and where ideas can be tested among the SSPS community at the University of Edinburgh. However, we welcome the submissions, and expertise of post-graduate students, who have been essential to producing some of our best articles.

Alumni: Writers and staff members at Leviathan have gone on to do some rather interesting things. This year, we're looking at reaching out to our alumni to collect their stories and give them the chance to get published in Leviathan one last time. Keep an eye out for an email later this semester for more information.

You are warmly invited to our second meeting of the year on Thursday 24 September at 1730 in the Chrystal MacMillan Building for the explanation of our theme for this issue, and to learn more about who we are, what we do, and how you can get involved.

Please note: The Application Deadline is 27 September 2015 at 1600

Please note, those interested in a team position must submit a 2000 word writing sample and a copy of their CV in addition to the online application. Candidates will be notified of their application status by 28 September. Interviews will be allocated to selected candidates on a first come first serve basis.
