This roundtable brings together speakers with competing perspectives on the European Parliament's contemporary role and status in the democratic life of the European Union (EU). All will address the questions: has the EP Come of Age? Is it now established as the legitimate voice of European citizens in the EU's institutional system? Or does it remain a weak, unloved, and ineffective institution that has failed to capture the hearts and minds of average Europeans?

Featured speakers will be Richard Corbett (cabinet of European Council President Herman Von Rompuy), David Martin MEP (tbc), John Peterson (Edinburgh Politics/IR) and Michael Shackleton (Head of UK EP Information Office, London).
