PIR Teaching Fellow Nominated for Teaching Award

Dr. Carmen Gebhard nominated for Campbell Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Politics & International Relations is delighted to announce that Dr. Carmen Gebhard, a Teaching Fellow in EU Politics, has been nominated by the Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA) for the Campbell Award for Excellence in Teaching.

outfile5691As EUSA puts it: 'Good teaching is about helping you to understand and learn, and there are a number of methods of achieving this, both within and out-with the tutorial room and lecture hall, It can be demonstrated by excellence in lecturing or tutoring, willingness to engage with students, provide helpful suggestions and comments and even extra-events and contacts that will help students in their academic career. Some lecturers are simply more compelling and can make their lectures interesting and engaging as well as informative. The winners of these awards are likely to be people in their college who are obviously enthusiastic about their subject and can communicate this to you in an enjoyable way, and demonstrate through the way that they interact with students and teach.'

The Campbell Award is specifically for excellence in teaching within the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, a broad College containing 11 schools, over 13000 students and over 1300 staff.

Carmen joined Politics & International Relations in September 2012. Previously she was a Teaching Fellow at the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham (2010-2012).
