European Commission of the 21st Century published

PIR colleagues co-author ‘major advance in study of the EU’

Book cover
“A LANDMARK IN DEVELOPING OUR UNDERSTANDING OF POLICY-MAKING BUREAUCRACIES”

John Peterson and Andrew Thompson, both Professors in Edinburgh PIR, have co-authored a new book on The European Commission on the 21st Century (http://ukcatalogue.oup.com/product/9780199599523.do#.Ude7ujuHuSo) as part of an international team of researchers.

Published by Oxford University Press, the book draws on original data from the largest attitudinal survey ever conducted by independent researchers inside the Commission, as well as a structured programme of interviews with senior officials.  It explodes many myths about one of the world’s most powerful international administrations and aims to be a definitive work in the study of the EU and its institutions.

The Commission of the 21st Century is the product of a research project funded by the EU’s Framework Programme VI and the Economic and Social Research Council (for more information on the project, click here:  http://www.pol.ed.ac.uk/eu_consent/commission_survey).
