Major event on EU Foreign Policy

John Peterson amongst panelists at Foreign Policy Centre event

The Foreign Policy Centre (FPC) will hold a major event on the future of EU foreign policy in Edinburgh on 21 February (event details at the bottom of the page). The event is titled: Europe in the world: Can EU foreign policy make an impact?

Speakers at the event will include PIR Professor John Peterson (pictured) as well as:

  • David Martin MEP
  • Claire Adamson MSP, Scottish Parliament European and External Relations Committee
  • Rt Hon The Lord Fraser of Carmyllie QC
It will be chaired by Adam Hug, Policy Director at the Foreign Policy Centre.

The event will feature a debate on the current state of EU foreign policy and will explore both how Europe is seen on the world stage and the effectiveness of the External Action Service in delivering on its key objectives: building an effective new diplomatic service, strengthening EU influence in the neighbourhood and developing relations with strategic partners.

Other topics for discussion and debate will include how the UK and Scotland fit into the EU foreign policy jigsaw; the impact of the Eurozone crisis; and broader strategic shifts and how they are impacting EU foreign policy.
