PIR at the Festival of Politics

Staff from Politics and International Relations will be sharing insights and ideas from their research at the Edinburgh Festival of Politics, hosted at the Scottish Parliament from 15th-17th August.

The theme of this year’s festival is “What Next for Scotland?”, and colleagues will be presenting on a range of panels:

On Friday 15th, Charlie Jeffery will chair a debate on “Balancing the Books”, exploring the future of public services in Scotland. Colin Fleming will be joining a panel looking at issues in defence policy in Scotland in the event of a ‘Yes’ vote in September’s referendum, including the Scottish Government’s proposed membership of NATO and the future of trident at Faslane. Then on Saturday 16th, Ailsa Henderson will present the results of new research on the impact of risk on constitutional preferences, while Nicola McEwen will join a panel to discuss political strategy and the referendum. On Sunday 17th, Christina Boswell will be part of a panel exploring immigration policy in the UK and Scotland. And Andrew Neal will be appearing on a panel called 'I Spy...', on the future of the intelligence services.
