Edinburgh Politics Student Wins Essay Prize

Edinburgh politics graduate Catherine McDonald has won the UK Political Studies Association Women and Politics Essay Prize for 2006.

The judges praised Catherine for her ‘insightful and thoughtful analysis’ of the tensions between feminism and multiculturalism. The work was originally written for Contemporary Feminist Thought, one of Catherine’s final year undergraduate courses. ‘I’m delighted – and shocked – to win this prestigious competition’, said Catherine, who has just returned from intensive language training in Spain. Catherine will be presented with her award at the PSA Women and Politics Annual Conference in London, February 2007.
