Edinburgh Student Politics Society wins award
Edinburgh University's student Politics society, POLSOC, has been recognised as runner up in the Best Student Society Award.
The Edinburgh University Politics Society was recently named runner up in the Best Society category at this year’s Societies Awards. This is a fantastic achievement for the society, whose committee has worked hard this year in organising talks, debates and socials. The Politics Society has held many well-attended events, including jam-packed talks by Alastair Campbell and Tommy Sheridan. Other speakers this year have included Sir Malcolm Rifkind, John Swinney and Tam Dalyall. The society also organised a debate on the Arab-Israeli conflict, which saw both passionate and informative discussion between both speakers and students. Just as impressively, the society has hosted lively social events, including various clubnights and the well-received Annual Politics Ball held this January. The Ball was a great success as 170 students and staff wined, dined and danced the night away in the luxurious Carlton Hotel. The society still has events left this term to cater for all interests, including a visit from Charles Kennedy on 9th March.
