UK and US army officers give Just World Institute lecture (podcast available)
Afghanistan: Why are we there? What are we doing? Can we succeed?
Major General Gordon Messenger, former British Commander of Task Force Helmand and Strategic Communications Officers of the Ministry of Defence, and Captain Brian Babcock-Lumish, US Army intelligence office, visited Edinburgh on 21 October to give talks on the war Afghanistan.
A wide range of students, academics, and local army officers, including the CO of the Edinburgh university officer cadets, attended the event. The talks were followed by a lively question and answer session chaired by Politics and IR head of subject Mark Aspinwall.
