PIR duo win Principal's Teaching Award Scheme grant
Elizabeth Bomberg and Victoria Loughlan have been awarded one of the Principal's Teaching Award Scheme project grants for 2012-13.
Their proposed project will fund two feedback-rich skills workshops in the year 1 course "Introduction to Politics and International Relations" (IPIR).
The special skills sessions will focus on critical reading and essay preparation. Both workshops will involve peer and staff interaction and feature a distinctive feedback dialogue element.
For one workshop, students will themselves mark an exemplar essay and provide feedback. By constructing their own feedback, students will gain a better idea of its content and purpose in student learning.
The workshops will be piloted in IPIR in Autumn 2012 and, if successful, rolled out to the wider School and beyond. See:
