Innovative and exciting new Honours course

New honours course - "Parliamentary Studies" - set for 2013-14

Politics & International Relations is delighted to announce that it has won approval from the UK Houses of Parliament to run an honours-level undergraduate course titled "Parliamentary Studies".

Charlie Jeffery VPThe course is set to run for the first time in September 2013 and combines the academic study of the UK and Scottish parliaments and legislative processes with modules on parliamentary research skills and visits to the parliaments. The course will be taught by academics from the University of Edinburgh, including Professor Charlie Jeffery (pictured right), and will feature speakers from both parliaments.

The substantive sessions on the course are designed to develop expertise in the structures and processes of the UK and Scottish Parliaments. Students will be trained throughout to compare and contrast these two variants of the ‘Westminster’ parliamentary tradition, and to apply knowledge and skills developed in the course to the work of either parliament.
