PIR in Latin America
Mark Aspinwall and Charlie Jeffery took part in the recent launch of Edinburgh's Latin America initiative.
New links are being forged in Mexico, Brazil, and Chile. The University of Edinburgh hosted its second annual Latin American Forum to discuss this rapidly developing market.
The Forum followed the recent opening of the University's Office of the Americas, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Office aids collaboration between the University of Edinburgh and partners in education, business, and government across the whole of Latin America.
PIR is closely involved in these initiatives. Professor Mark Aspinwall is currently a Visiting Professor at the prestigious CIDES, in Mexico City. His recent book, "Side Effects", was published to much acclaim and explored governance in Mexico after the labour and environmental accords that accompanied the NAFTA treaty went into effect.
Professor Charlie Jeffery, as a University Vice-Principal, is closely involved with the development of new links between the University and public policy/governmental organisations across Latin America.
