PIR Society hosts Shadow Secretary of State, Margaret Curran

Chrystal Macmillan Building, seminar rooms 1+2, Thursday 29 January @19.00pm

This Thursday, the Edinburgh University Politics and International Relations Society will host Margaret Curran, MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland. Ms. Curran will be speaking about the Scottish Labour Party, the upcoming General Election, and be sharing her reflections about what political reform should look like in post-referendum Scotland.

We will also be hosting a delegation of political science students from the University of Leiden for a social afterwards at Vodka Revolution. The students are visiting Edinburgh to "acquire more knowledge about both the culture and the political situation in other countries and to see how political organizations and institutions work in practice.”

Margaret Curran is a Scottish Labour Party politician, who has been the Member of Parliament for Glasgow East since 2010, and is currently Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland. She was previously Member of the Scottish Parliament for Glasgow Baillieston from 1999 to 2011, and held a number of posts within the Scottish Executive, including Minister for Parliamentary Business, Minister for Social Justice and Minister for Communities.
