PIR expert attends BRICS Seminar in China

Kristen Hopewell (Sr. Lecturer) invited by Chinese government.

Dr. Kristen Hopewell was invited by the Government of China to participate in the BRICS Seminar on Governance, a parallel event to the 2017 BRICS Summit hosted by China, in Quanzhou, Fujian on August 17-18, 2017.  The high-level event brought together over 150 policymakers, business leaders, and academics to discuss the impact of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) on global development and governance.  Dr. Hopewell presented research from her current ESRC-funded project investigating how the rise of China is transforming the global governance of export credit, an increasingly contentious area of industrial policy and international trade negotiations. More from the general summit available here.
