People who research and write on public policy tend to be close to the policy process. Members of the Public Policy Research Group work with a range of individuals and organizations, including government, in different contexts in Edinburgh and across Scotland, in London, Europe and beyond.´
Charles Raab is currently (2007-08) Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitution’s Inquiry into The Impact of Surveillance and Data Collection upon the Privacy of Citizens and their Relationship with the State.
Sarah Vaughan works in the Ethiopian government's Ministry of Federal Affairs, conducting regular seminars with regional officials on conflict within the country.
Richard Freeman worked with Ethiopian psychiatrist Dawit Wondimagegn on a study of Mental health policy making in Ethiopia in 2007. The project was funded through the Scottish Government's Humanitarian Health Fund and included a feedback seminar to psychiatrists and public officials in Addis attended by Pippa Coutts of the Scottish Development Centre for Mental Health. Eve Hepburn has conducted research for the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) on knowledge exchange on public policy in a Scottish and international context. She is a member of the Organising Committee of the Scottish Policy Innovation Forum (SPIF) in Edinburgh. Eve has also contributed pieces to The House Magazine and Blue Skies on UK policy issues, and has done media work on Scottish politics for BBC Scotland and BBC Radio Scotland.
