Recent Posts

Before joining Edinburgh, where she teaches political theory, Lynn Dobson taught at the Universities of Westminster and Essex.

Research Interests

Currently she is interested in theories of citizenship and alienage; legitimacy, authority, and political obligation; and normative issues of European integration. She welcomes PhD proposals in these or cognate areas from suitably qualified applicants.

Current Research and Teaching

Lynn Dobson co-convenes the European Consortium for Political Research's Standing Group in International Political Theory (http://www.essex.ac.uk/ecpr/standinggroups/ipt/ipt.aspx).

Teaching activities: contributes to MSc programmes in political philosophy, European politics, and international politics.  At undergraduate level she contributes to Global Justice and Citizenship, and convenes the honours options Political Theory and European Integration and 'Freedom in Political Theory'.

Research Supervision

Lynn Dobson welcomes research proposals in her areas of interest from suitably qualified applicants.  She has supervised 11 PhD students (7 as primary supervisor).   

 

Recent Publications

Supranational Citizenship (Manchester University Press, 2006), and Political Theory and the European Constitution (Routledge, 2004 and 2006, co-edited with Andreas Follesdal). She is also the author of several recent journal articles and book chapters.
