UN-EU Cooperation in International Peace and Security
My research interest lies in the cooperation between the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) in the realm of international peace and security. The primary focus of my research is to investigate the motivation and conditions under which the UN and the EU are more willing to work collectively in peacekeeping operations. My research project aims to explore simultaneous interactions between the UN ad hoc Security Council and the EU on international peacekeeping issues and identify the most important actors involved in negotiations and decision-making. Variables which may influence the type of UN-EU peacekeeping mandates are also examined by competing IR theories. Finally, this project discusses what needs to be done to carry out peacekeeping operations more effectively and coherently by means of the cooperation between the UN and the EU.
