Postgraduate Study

At the post-graduate level we offer six taught MSc programmes, three of which cover broad sub-disciplines:
MSc International and European Politics
MSc International Relations
MSc International Political Theory
and three with more specific focus:
MSc International Relations of the Middle East
MSc International Relations of the Middle East, with Arabic
MSc Global Environment, Politics & Society

Through the Academy of Government we also offer professional programmes (https://www.aog.ed.ac.uk/professional_education) such as the Master of Public Policy, Master of International Affairs, the Executive Programme in Public Policy as well as the Parliamentary Internship Programme (http://www.aog.ed.ac.uk/professional_education/intership_programme) , which offers UK and international undergraduates the opportunity to complete courses in Scottish and British Politics taught by Edinburgh faculty, as well as be matched with a Member of the Scottish Parliament to complete their internship. 

We also offer full and part time MSc by Research degrees and a 3 year PhD (http://www.sps.ed.ac.uk/gradschool/prospective/phd_programmes/phd_in_politics)  in Politics.  Both involve research training courses in the first year and all postgraduate research students are paired with two permanent staff members as supervisors.  Our PhD graduates have gone on to win post-doctoral fellowships and secure lectureships at top-ranked UK and international universities.
